The SOTAC-GEAR Adjustable Aperture & Daylight Filter (Light Limiter) is a critical, multi-purpose upgrade for anyone running PVS-14, PVS-18, or PVS-31 night vision devices.

Often referred to as a "refocus ring" or "adjustable iris," this device snaps securely over your objective lens. It solves one of the biggest physical limitations of traditional night vision: the inability to focus on near and far objects simultaneously. By restricting the amount of light entering the tube, it forces a "pinhole effect" that drastically increases your depth of field.

Key Specifications & Features

  • Adjustable Aperture (Pinhole Effect): By twisting the outer ring, you can smoothly open or close the internal aperture (like a camera lens). Closing the aperture down reduces incoming light and drastically increases your focal depth, allowing near and far objects to be in focus at the same time.

  • Daylight Protection: Acts as a daylight training filter. If you need to turn your NVGs on in a brightly lit area to test them, closing the aperture protects the sensitive image intensifier tube from light damage and "bleaching."

  • Sacrificial Lens Protection: Features a durable front glass/polycarbonate barrier that acts as a shield. It takes the impact of dirt, debris, branches, and airsoft BBs, sacrificing itself to protect your immensely expensive objective lens from cracking or scratching.

  • Universal Fit: Designed with a friction-fit or screw-on interface that perfectly mates with standard mil-spec objective lenses found on the PVS-14, PVS-18, PVS-31, and equivalent analog or dummy systems.

  • Rugged Construction: Built from lightweight, impact-resistant polymer and metal components to ensure it survives harsh field conditions without adding unnecessary weight to the front of your helmet.
